Today it has been busy. And my white cell count has come up a bit but not my neutrophils. I’ve managed to eat a bit more and one of the nurses called Sandra made me laugh. My hair hurts some times as it’s quite spikey. I’ve learnt some new magic tricks.
This is the school teacher Katie.
This famous rapper called Guvna B who does a Christian camp that I wanted to go to but I was too ill to sent me a video message.
Today I had my feed off and to eat I had rice crispies,a bit of a rich tea biscuit, some macaroni cheese and a potato wedge, and jam sandwich but I didn’t like most of them as my taste buds have changed. These are my doctors. I have shown them my magic tricks.
Yesterday I had a bit of a temperature but I was ok. One of the consultants, Dr Velangi, brought his laptop to show me photos of when he went to Borneo. There were vipers, other snakes, crocodiles, little bears, scorpions, tarantulas, hornbill birds, elephants, starfish, and leeches. He has set a challenge for other staff to find better animal photos.
Today I have slept a lot and when I woke up a funny lady called Dr Glow the giggle doctor was here. She made a balloon model of me and made me laugh.
I’m still feeling well, I have been eating rice, cucumber, skittles and an ice lolly today. I’ve been doing some knitting and playing with my new shnooks. Sometimes it’s a bit boring but I have a tv in my room.
A long, tough, but ultimately successful day today.
Olivia underwent 90 minutes of surgery this afternoon to extract 600ml of bone marrow. The procedure went well, she is very sore but was still able to stop for chicken nuggets on the way home! She made her parents very proud today.
Grace felt a little better today, was only sick twice, but had to endure having a NG (feeding) tube pushed up her nose and down her throat. In fact, she had to go through this twice as the tube came out this evening. Due to her nausea she has not eaten for two days, so this tube is very important for her to get all the nutrients she needs to keep her strength up. She was extremely brave both times, and hopefully she will soon get used to it being there.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) is transplant day, which should be a lot more straightforward in comparison to today.
It was Grace’s last day of Chemo today. she felt very poorly all day! She was cheered up by the lovely presents from the Barn Church – Thank you very much! Hopefully she feels better tomorrow. Today she also went into Isolation, and Dad is staying with her tonight. She had to say goodbye to her friends on the Ward. Olivia is having her operation tomorrow for the bone marrow.
